Questions & Mishaps

As you can see from the following photos, it was a busy studio weekend…the good…the bad and the ugly!!!

This piece of etched brass ended with a very happy accident. I forgot that I had a small piece of brass with a resist made of punched label swirls in the ‘soup’. 2 1/2 hours later I pulled it out and WOW…it looks like highly polished gold.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO…I proceeded to take another piece of brass and drew some quick designs with a Sharpie Oil Paint pen and let it ‘soak’ for 2 1/2 hours. For all of you etching gurus…why did the first piece turn out so well and the second has a rough surface with an deeply etched ‘trench’ around the piece?

Working on some small metal pieces for a project, one side needed a ‘little’ trim with my new Fiskars metal sheers. That little trim turned into a trip to the Urgent Care and 5 stitches. OUCH!!!

WELL…that is my recap for the weekend…hope yours was creative and less adventurous than mine!!!
